Name/Artist Nick: Sadie Pinn and Rou Rot Personal URL (optional): @sadie_pinn Country: United Kingdom Work title/duration: PARASITES/BLOODCELLS Year/country when/where it was made: London, United Kingdom Short description (1 sentence): Protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders. Explication (no more than 600 words): PARASITES (part 1) My neighbourhood is solid working-class, It's beat; a congested mess of Doner Kebab take aways, betting joints and pubs. Over here no one sleeps soundly, the traffic raids through our hours of the night and missing-person posters steal up the shop front windows. Our street-lights are poorly lit and broken, but desperation has been quick at teaching us to exploit the night, we’ve wrapped it around us, torn a pattern of pocket knife, hand-stitched with the names of the dead along the bricked walls of our blocked-opportunity. You don't come from our world and we don't come from yours. The great shadow men, the concrete Islands of the sky gives exercise in isolationism, a neighbourhood pulls out a deck chair to watch the unfold of a man that's dragged from his peace by police, whilst headless youths on trick-bikes loop their own surveillance and women chained in wounds wear T-shirts spelling Princess. Down the alleyways it's even darker, where addiction has become a master at killing all the fun and gathers in the pews of blue-lit, pissed-out and smashed-out under endless piles of blankets and clothes to leave needles in a holy-water sink, but thats a life choice headwinds the local papers, passing on a life sentence to the poor. But they dont come to our world and we cant come to theirs. BLOOD CELLS (part 2) Violence has always been a weapon only to be used against a nature ruled by reason. This is why violence is a virus, an excess, but so does reason and reason is a violence, precisely because it does not utilise violence as such but rather functions as violence, and therefore as a virus of violence: death. Be patient in the continued disease of peace. CV (optional): Links to your works or any promo that you would like to share (optional): How you know about the festival:
