Name/Artist Nick: Eirini Tampasouli Personal URL (optional): https://www.facebook.com/eirini.tamp/ Country: Greece Work title/duration: I killed my best friend / 16.30 min Year/country when/where it was made: 2020/ Greece Short description (1 sentence): a girl trying to cope with the death of her best friend Explication (no more than 600 words): Very frequently, raw material of my films are incidents of my life. 'I killed my best friend' is my way of doing a funeral for a friendship that died. I felt the need to live the friendship again, its beginning and its end, placed in a border world, with elements completely imaginary and elements completely real. And because I don't really separate these worlds, it would be inappropriate to ask for an actor to play 'myself', it would be inappropriate to stick to a strict 'representation'. Consequently, the mourning of the lost friendship, whether taking a form of a ritual or being expressed in really common ways, becomes for me an experience of the moment, taking place in public or personal spaces. But the 'after' is also recorded too, either as the end of the movie, or as the movie itself as the end of the real friendship. An experience trapped in transition, an experience that will never exist since we are no longer friends, the space and time of nothingness that I tragically try to replace with 'something' that we could live together.
